I don’t know how yesterday went for you. Maybe you’ve got the verse you chose down pat; maybe you still can’t remember the first words. Wherever you’re at, I want to encourage you to continue in this today, either with the same verse or with a new one.

And as you do, here’s what I invite you to ask God for as you memorize his Word today: God, will you increase my capacity to remember your Words?

See, this memorization thing – it has only a bit to do with your brain’s ability to remember things and a lot to do with God’s promise. Here is what HE said he would do in Jeremiah 31: “’This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,’ declares the LORD. ‘I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.’”

Through the Holy Spirit in you, God is writing his words on your mind and heart. Don’t be discouraged today, friend. HE is doing this work, so ask him to increase your capacity to partner with him in this way.
