“‘I tell you,’ he replied, ‘if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’” (Luke 19:40, NIV)
Today is Palm Sunday, the day we celebrate Jesus riding on a donkey entering Jerusalem, allowing Himself to be publicly praised as King. The people shouted, “Hosanna!” (John 12:12), the Hebrew word meaning “save now.” The people proclaimed truth about Jesus, despite them not even realizing it was a different truth than what they expected. They expected a King to save them from the Roman government, yet God sent his Son to save them from their sin. God makes the truth of who He is known, and even when the Pharisees harshly rebuke such truth, Jesus responds, “the rocks will cry out.”
Wherever we find ourselves in our faith journey with Jesus, know this: His Word endures, His promises are sure, and God and His plan for redemption cannot be stopped; even His creation will proclaim it!
This morning, using this image from Justin McRoberts and Scott Erikson’s book May It Be So: Forty Days with the Lord’s Prayer, ask God to show you more of who He is and more of the truth in His Word through your interactions with others and as you look about His creation this week.
