“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (NLT)
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
Have you ever been asked this question? I remember getting asked that question back in high school. My honest answer was, “I don’t know yet. I’ll let you know when I grow up!”
Seriously though, have you ever wondered if you’re truly living out the purpose God designed for you? In a world filled with distractions and doubts, it’s easy to lose sight of who we are meant to be. But what if God has already laid out a path just for you—one filled with meaning, impact, and divine intention?
Each of us is God’s workmanship, carefully crafted by His hands with divine intention and purpose. Yet, how often do we pause to ask ourselves if we are truly walking in the truth of who He created us to be?
Many times, the world tries to define us—through achievements, failures, opinions, or even our own self-doubt. But Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that our identity and purpose are not found in these external measures but in Christ alone. He created us with a purpose, preparing in advance the good works we are to accomplish. Our lives are not random; they are designed to be expressions of His grace, love, and truth.
So, are you and I walking in the truth of God’s design for us? Are we living in the confidence that we are His masterpiece? To walk in this truth means surrendering our own plans and aligning ourselves with His will. It means stepping forward in faith, trusting that He has already laid out the path for us to follow. It means rejecting the lies of inadequacy and embracing the truth that we are fearfully and wonderfully made for His glory.
My method of calibrating on this is to take time to reflect…
If not, I need to invite Him to realign my heart with His truth, to strengthen my faith, and to lead me into the fullness of my calling. How are you doing with this? If you need to get back on track, I encourage you to do the same. Only through Him can we truly figure out what we want to be when we grow up.
Father, thank You for creating me with purpose and intention. Help me to walk in the truth of who You say I am, not in the lies of this world. Guide me to fulfill the good works You have prepared for me and give me the courage to follow You wholeheartedly. May my life reflect Your glory and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
